Automaton

Author: AUTOMATON: i recently included this word in the “Vocabulary” group on fetlife as it seemed appropriate to a discussion. This is the 2nd definition listed in Dictionary.com and the one i wished to address: 2. a person or animal that acts in a monotonous, routine manner, without active intelligence.
Many Owners purport to wish this sort of slavery. That is, a slave who has no desires of “it’s” own, expresses no wishes, demonstrates no emotion other than pleasing the Owner, has no limits other than those permitted by the owner, lives in a cage when not being used as a piece of furniture, an ashtray, or in general, a robot.
i suspect that such Owners have never really owned a slave, as this is an extraordinarily unrealistic approach to M/s. if that were truly the meaning of modern day slavery, there would be not many who would voluntarily enter that life. Even in ancient times, and as recently as those times when slavery was legal in the U.S. and other parts of the world, slaves were expected to work to the benefit of their owners…which, by definition, requires an active participation in the work to be done, whether that be in the fields, or in the house or with other duties in the estate. Slaves were expected to work to the best of their abilities for the Master’s benefit, which often entailed making recommendations, even decisions, regarding the best way(s) to accomplish a task or a responsibility.
Modern day Owners who profess to desiring a degree of control that requires the slave to virtually suspend all intellectual ability are merely control freaks, not Owners, and they do not have their slaves best interests at heart.
BEWARE THE “OWNER” WHO WISHES TO CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE.

This is one reason i like Lady so much. She does not want a automaton. 80% of what i read anyway, they are always talking about furniture. Even that a slave is incable of thought. It is talked about so much, i wonder if there are not some Dommes/Doms who want automatons.
Much better being Yourself, and accomplishing chores and tasks without being told specific details that Lady does not want to know. It is so much better having intelligent conversations with Lady.
i have come to enjoy the conversations more than anything i do with Lady. i never know what we will talk about, or even where a conversation will go. After play, i am afraid i am not very good with post play conversation.
Automatons…i know i do not want to become one. Where is the FUN for all involved then.

thank you josie. i understand your comment about not being very good with conversation after play sessions…sub-space does that to you. it can take several hours to come completely out of sub-space and while in it, intelligent conversation can be a challenge, lol.
